Rev. Eddie Kahler

Pastor/Director

Eddie is an ordained elder in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church and received his Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School (MDiv ’17). Eddie comes to TCU Wesley from Genesis UMC in southwest Fort Worth, where he previously served as the associate pastor.  


Eddie and his wife, Laura, met as undergrads at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas (he studied Christian ministry; she studied nursing). The two graduated and were married in the summer of 2014 before moving to Durham, NC, for seminary. Eddie and Laura have lived in Fort Worth for almost three years. Laura currently serves as a nurse supervisor at Baylor All Saints Medical Center. Aside from ministry, Eddie enjoys cooking, following a collection of sports teams, and spending time with Laura and their dog, Ruby. 


Eddie comes to TCU Wesley with experience in urban and rural church settings as well as campus ministry. He is passionate about coming alongside people on their journey to faith in Christ.

Hey guys! My name is Kelly Bertrand and I am from Tomball, Texas. I am a junior nursing major here at TCU. My life outside of the Wesley pretty much consists of studying and binge watching my favorite shows. I fell in love with the Wesley because there are always friendly faces here to welcome me, and it’s a place that I know I can grow in my faith.

I love traveling, learning from new experiences, and spending quality time with those I love most. I’ve been at the Wesley since the beginning of my freshman year, and can’t wait to continue to grow with this organization!

Hello! My name is Omar Urrutia and I’m from Frisco, TX. I’m currently a junior pursuing a degree in Music Education and planning on get a Masters in Audio Engineering! I enjoy watching movies, hanging out with friends, and I have a pet Corgi named Lily. I love how I get to worship with my close friends every week and create a closer community through the Wesley!

Laura Podschun

Hey, y’all! My name is Laura Podschun, I’m from Winfield, Kansas, and I love to travel and spend time outside! I grew up in a family of 8 kids and now have 9 nieces and nephews! I graduated in May 2020 from Southwestern College (a small school in Kansas) with a degree in Philosophy and Religion to pursue a career in ministry! I felt called to the DFW area and moved to Fort Worth this August. In my free time you’ll find me at a coffee shop with a good friend or a good book. I love to eat and explore new restaurants and would greatly appreciate hearing what your favorite food in Fort Worth is and why!

Hi! I’m Anna Norman, a junior biochemistry major and cultural awareness is health and healthcare/biology double minor from Beaumont, Texas. Some of my passions include working with children, cozy pajama pants, and chips and queso. The members of the Wesley are some of the more genuine and caring people I know, and I cannot wait to serve them as a member of leadership team!

Howdy! I'm Brandon Slate and I'm from Carrollton, Texas. I'm currently pursuing a degree in Music Education. I'm involved in the TCU marching band, symphonic band, and jazz ensemble. I also lead worship here at the Wesley. I love how the Wesley gives me a place to come together with friends and worship and grow as Christians!
